What is YANL?

YANL is a network testing app for Android with a companion web viewer. It records what your mobile and Wi-Fi connection is really doing (signal strength and quality, speed, coverage and events) anywhere you are, then lets you replay and analyse it on a bigger screen with charts, maps and a timeline.

What does YANL measure?

Cellular (2G to 5G: RSRP, RSRQ, SINR, the serving cell and its neighbours, and handovers), Wi-Fi (signal, band, channel, standard and every access point in range), Bluetooth, GPS/GNSS, throughput via iPerf3, and device performance. It captures around 60 measurements once every second.

Do I need an account?

No. For a trial you can upload anonymously and open it with a reference ID and access code, kept for 7 days. Sign in for longer retention and to save uploads to your account.

Is YANL free?

Yes, YANL is free to start. Anonymous basic tests need no account at all; a paid Pro tier adds longer retention and higher limits, and is free during the trial.

Does YANL record 5G correctly?

Yes. On 5G non-standalone (NSA), your phone shows a 5G icon while the anchor cell is still 4G LTE. YANL detects that and labels it as 5G NSA, so what you see matches your phone.

What happens with no signal, or in aeroplane mode?

YANL never invents readings. When the radio reports nothing, you see a gap or “N/A” rather than a made-up number, so a coverage hole in the data is a real coverage hole.

Is my location private when I share a session?

Your own data is always shown to you in full. A share link blurs precise GPS coordinates and Wi-Fi network names and addresses by default; you can choose to share full precision with someone you trust.

Can I use it for a drive test or site survey?

Yes, and anywhere else: a walk, a train, an office, or standing still. It records continuously at one-second resolution wherever you go.

What format are the recordings?

Open, human-readable text (one reading per line) that you keep. Nothing is locked in a proprietary format.

Can I get an AI to explain my results?

Yes. “Copy for AI” copies a plain-English summary of your session, with sensitive identifiers masked by default, that you can paste into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini.

Which devices does it run on?

The capture app runs on Android; the web viewer works in any modern browser on a laptop, tablet or phone.
